Saturday Night Live took the week off from dogging President Trump and went after R. Kelly's interview with Gayle King in its Cold Open, with Kenan Thompson and Leslie Jones playing Kelly and King. Thompson repeatedly asked to be referred to as "Victim"—which Jones immediately declined—broke out into song, and frequently goofed on basic math, reports NBC News. Of the Lifetime documentary that was the impetus for the interview, Thompson said, "They made it seem like I was the Devil. I’m not the Devil. and even if I was, you can’t think of one nice thing to say about the Devil? I can. Nice horns. Gives good advice."

Kelly surfaced again in Weekend Update, where Pete Davidson tried to reconcile troubled artists he likes with their work. "If you support the Catholic Church, isn't that like the same thing as being an R. Kelly fan?" he asked. Davidson also address his relationship with Kate Beckinsale. Idris Elba guest-hosted, and Khalid was musical guest. (More Saturday Night Live stories.)
