Edie's Gone From Desperate Housewives

(Newser) – Edie's gone from Desperate Housewives, and the show's creator says she won't be back "for a few years." Nicollette Sheridan's character left abruptly at the end of last night's episode after being confronted and shunned by her neighbors. Show creator Marc Cherry insists that she's really leaving, but he refused to say whether the character would reappear in Lost-style flash-forwards.

"I only address one rumor at a time," Cherry says.
