Growing Pains Plenty Evident at Facebook

Posted May 13, 08 4:13 PM CDT in Business Technology

(Newser) – Facebook is seeing a lot of challenges lately, with ads selling at rock-bottom prices, revenue not nearly rivaling MySpace, and third-party developers defecting to OpenSocial networks (MySpace, again). But unlike other companies’ young founders, Mark Zuckerberg isn’t about to step aside. And thanks to his tight control of Facebook's board, he’s not about to be pushed out, either, Fortune reports.

Jerry Yang, Steve Jobs and the Google boys all moved into sideline positions when rough weather hit, but Zuckerberg is staying at the helm. Still, he’s bringing in a little adult supervision in the form of Google's Sheryl Sandberg, who became COO in March. Sandberg is hoping to implement a new ad plan, along with performance reviews and recruiting changes.
