Get Over XP 'Worship'

Posted May 15, 08 4:04 PM CDT in Technology

(Newser) – Nostalgia for Windows XP is misplaced, Rob Pegoraro argues in the Washington Post: Vista has its problems, but they’re not solved by XP, which is ill-equipped to face the “busy” and “brutish” modern Internet landscape. “XP is not something that needs to be ‘saved,’ as if it were some architectural triumph in need of historic preservation,” he writes.

Pegoraro makes a case against opting for XP instead of Vista on new computers, as many consumers are doing. XP and Vista share many of the same faults, he declares, but Vista requires less “tinkering.” Accept Vista, as the worst of its problems are now solved—or just buy a non-Windows computer.
