Struggling Mike Lamb lifted the Minnesota Twins past the Boston Red Sox 7-6 last night with a two-run single in the ninth against Jonathan Papelbon, who blew his second consecutive save opportunity. Delmon Young led off the ninth with a single, and advanced on a sacrifice by Matt Tolbert. Adam Everett popped out, Young stole third without a throw, and Carlos Gomez walked and moved up on a steal. Justin Morneau hit a two-run homer for the power-poor Minnesota Twins, and Nick Blackburn made it stand up with 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians today. Blackburn (1-1) earned his first major league win with veteran poise by using the defense behind him to escape a couple of jams. Clint Barmes, Matt Holliday and Garrett Atkins homered, and the Colorado Rockies routed Arizona 13-5 on Sunday, snapping the Diamondbacks' eight-game win streak. Barmes drove in four runs and Holliday and Atkins knocked in three apiece for the Rockies, who beat their NL West rivals for the first time in six meetings this year. Aaron Cook (1-1) got the win.
