'Take Care of My Friend,' Bush Tells Ted's Wife

Posted May 19, 08 2:14 PM CDT in Politics

(Newser) – President Bush called Ted Kennedy's wife, Victoria, this morning, asking her to “take care of my friend," the Boston Herald reports. Kennedy's wife is staying by the senator's bedside amid a stream of well-wishers. Kennedy had two seizures on Saturday, not one as originally reported, his father-in-law told WBZ-TV today.

The 76-year-old Democrat is waiting for results from tests taken yesterday, passing the time by watching sports on TV and rented movies. “The Senator had a restful night, and will be undergoing further evaluation today,” Kennedy's staff wrote in an update. “It is unclear whether anything definitive will be known today or tomorrow.”
