Militant Website Says It Has Video of Troop Abduction

Posted Jun 4, 07 10:15 CDT in US World

(Newser) – A militant Islamic website says it will release a video showing the capture last month of three American soldiers. The video shows the kidnapping as well as the ID cards of the two soldiers who are still missing, says an organization that monitors militant websites. The third soldier was later found dead in the Euphrates River.

A friend of Pfc. Byron Fouty's family says the video "warns the US to back off on the search" but does not indicate whether Fouty and Spc. Alex Jimenez are still alive. The Washington-based SITE Institute said the video is 10 minutes, 41 seconds long but did not indicate how it obtained the footage.
