Bulls Land No. 1 Pick in Lottery

Posted May 21, 08 12:12 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Jay-Z may have gold records and a clothing line and Larry Bird may have MVPs and championship rings but neither was able to bring their teams, the Nets and Pacers, respectively, the luck necessary to win the NBA’s draft lottery. That honor went to the Chicago Bulls, who had just a 1.7 percent chance of landing the No. 1 spot in the draft, reports the Associated Press.

The Bulls, who were a disappointing 33-49 last season, will have to choose between two highly-regarded college freshman, point guard Derrick Rose from Memphis and forward Michael Beasley from Kansas State. The Miami Heat, who had the best chance of landing the No. 1 pick, will select second and the Minnesota Timberwolves will select third.
