Drew Faces Weapons Charge

Posted May 21, 08 6:04 PM CDT in Crime & Courts US

(Newser) – Drew Peterson is free on bail after surrendering to police today on felony weapons charges, the Chicago Tribune reports. The charges—he owns a rifle with an illegal barrel—are not related to the cases of his missing fourth wife or the suspicious death of his third, but they carry a possible penalty of 5 years in prison.

"Any inconvenience they can cause him, so much the better," said Peterson's attorney. "They might believe it's a tactic to shake him up."
