Kid Sister: Success at Her Fingertips

Posted May 29, 08 12:15 PM CDT in Glossies Arts & Living

(Newser) – With her manicure anthem "Pro Nails," Chicago rapper Kid Sister (aka Melisa Young) managed to parlay a penchant for mile-long acrylic talons into a hot career. The single caught the ear of hip-hop golden boy Kanye West, who added vocals on the track and cameoed in the video, reports W. After she blew up on TRL and MTV Spring Break, execs have even offered Young her own show on the music network.

Kid Sister quit her job selling baby clothes to finish her first album, a shout out to '90s female rap due in July. She calls it “Fun, fun, F to the U to the N and more fun! It’s really carefree, fun dance stuff." And though she's new to the game, she's already found a taste for upscale gear like Valentino and Hussein Chalayan.
