Air Force Pulls Misleading Ad

(Newser) – An Air Force commercial that shows a US communications satellite exploding and implies a single missile could knock out cell phones, GPS navigation, banking transactions, and TV broadcasts has been pulled for being misleading, the Military Times reports. The ad, part of the Air Force’s “Above All” campaign will get a new story line and be re-released.

Communications experts said knocking down part of the GPS constellation of satellites could disrupt or black out the services, but more than one satellite would need to be destroyed. The ad campaign has several other commercials that continue to run on CNN and on the Internet. The Air Force pulled the anti-satellite ad May 14, but it's still on YouTube.
