Obama Repudiates Preacher Over 'White Tears' Slam

(Newser) – Barack Obama has had to apologize for another troublesome preacher at his home church, reports MSNBC. The Rev. Michael Pfleger—a white Catholic priest widely known as Chicago's "renegade" priest for his liberal social activism in the city’s black community—mocked Hillary Clinton in a guest sermon, saying she squirted tears on the campaign trail because her sense of white entitlement had been punctured by Obama's success.

"She always thought, ‘This is mine. I’m Bill’s wife, I’m white and this is mine. There’s a black man stealing my show!’’” Pfleger told the congregation. "She wasn’t the only one crying. There was a whole a lot of white people crying!” Pfleger has since apologized for his remarks and Obama released a statement yesterday saying he was "disappointed" in the priest's "divisive, backwards-looking rhetoric."
