(Newser) – The NHL Finals ended in a blowout, with Anaheim humiliating Ottawa in Game 5 for the franchise's (and state's) first Stanley Cup. Travis Moen had two goals, one of which was actually an own goal; Chris Phillips accidentally deflected the puck into the goal off python-owner and keeper Ray Emery.

Captain Scott Niedermayer won the MVP trophy, and he and Rob Niedermayer became the second pair of brothers to win the championship together. Despite berths in the last three finals, Canada has not won a Stanley Cup since 1993. It was the Ducks' first year without "Mighty" in their name.
