Fortunate 50: Sports Elite in the Green

(Newser) – Forget all the talk of economic uncertainty. Sports Illustrated has released its fifth annual Fortunate 50 ranking of top athlete incomes, and things are certain as they've ever been; the NBA pays the best, women aren't being paid enough and Tiger Woods is absolutely untouchable. Ranked by combined on- and off-the-field income, the top ten (with six and seven tied) are below:

  1. Tiger Woods (golf): $127,902,706
  2. Phil Mickelson (golf): $62,372,685
  3. LeBron James (basketball): $40,455,000
  4. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (boxing): $40,250,000
  5. Kobe Bryant (basketball): $35,490,625
  6. Shaquille O'Neal (basketball): $35,000,000
  7. Alex Rodriguez (baseball): $35,000,00
  8. Kevin Garnett (basketball): $31,000,000
  9. Peyton Manning (football): $30,500,000
  10. Derek Jeter (baseball): $30,000,000
