Karma? Stone Banned From Shanghai Fest

Posted Jun 4, 08 8:00 AM CDT in Arts & Living Gossip World

(Newser) – Sharon Stone has been declared persona non grata at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival, reports the AP. Organizers said they will not be inviting the star, who attended last year, because of outrage over her recent comments suggesting the Sichuan earthquake was caused by bad "karma" linked to China's treatment of Tibetans. They have demanded an explanation and apology.

"We are not inviting her to the festival this year," a spokeswoman told AFP. "We are indignant. She should have respected Chinese people's feelings and showed some sympathy to those who suffered from the earthquake."
