Clinton Offers 'Full Support' for Obama

Posted Jun 7, 08 12:21 PM CDT in Politics

(Newser) – Hillary Clinton today ended her 16-month campaign for the presidency and threw her "full support" behind Barack Obama, the New York Times reports. She urged her supporters to unite behind him. Clinton vowed to continue working on her key issues, in particular to shatter the glass ceiling for women. Next time, she said, "It will be unremarkable to think that a woman could be president. And that is truly remarkable, my friends."

"The way to continue our fight now to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passion, our energy and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States," she said. Clinton suspended her campaign instead of disbanding it, but that's only a technicality that allows her to raise money and pay off debts, the Times notes.
