Brokeback Headed to Opera Stage

Composer working on converting Oscar-winning movie

(Newser) – Brokeback Mountain, the groundbreaking gay love story of two Wyoming ranch hands which went on to claim 3 Oscars, will be transformed into an opera, Reuters reports. The New York City Opera has commissioned a composer to write the work. 

"Ever since encountering Annie Proulx' extraordinary story I have wanted to make an opera on it, and it gives me great joy that New York City Opera has given me the opportunity to do so," he said

(Newser) - Actor Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills, painkillers, and anti-anxiety medication, the New York City Medical Examiner's Office ruled today.
