Sen. Ted Kennedy returned to his Massachusetts home today, a week after undergoing a chancy surgery to remove part of a malignant brain tumor, WBZ-TV reports. The Democrat's plane landed at a Cape Cod airport around 11:30 this morning, the Boston Globe adds; Kennedy, 76, told reporters it was “good to be home."

But Kennedy’s son said yesterday his father’s mind was on universal health care and helping Barack Obama's presidential campaign. "It adds a great deal of poignancy to his recovery," Rep. Patrick Kennedy said. "That's how he sees it—he has to recover so he can get health care for the millions of people who don't have access to the care that we do." (More Ted Kennedy stories.)
