Disney Now Offering Free Movies Online

Ad-supported films a new strategy for company

Share

(Newser) – Disney has launched a new internet service streaming full-length movies for free, CNET reports. The company will be offering one movie a week on its website, making it available for a few days after it's shown on ABC's Wonderful World of Disney. This week's offering is Finding Nemo.

The free movies represent a fresh online strategy for Disney, which had previously sold movies on iTunes. The films will run with ads and Disney promotional videos, and the site will also host other ads. Other movies offered this summer will include Monsters, Inc., Freaky Friday, Peter Pan and Princess Diaries 2.

"Monsters, Inc." will be available online next week through Disney's new streaming service.   (KRT Photos)
