Expect GOP to Turn Venom on Michelle

Dowd: Right will paint would-be first lady as angry black woman

(Newser) – Now that Hillary Clinton is out of the White House picture, it’s Michelle Obama’s turn to be the object of that “sulfurous national game of ‘Kill the witch,’” writes Maureen Dowd in the New York Times. The fairer Obama can be more prickly than her sunny husband, and dwells more on racial oppression. Websites have already cropped up painting her as another Jeremiah Wright.

“Michelle,” one political observer says, “is a target-rich environment.” But Mrs. Obama is far from powerless; when she's on her game, she's a knockout, Dowd writes. She’s co-hosting "The View" next week, which will be a good opportunity to address her belated pride in her country. It’s her “big moment in the sun,” one ex-GOP strategist said. “She’ll have the opportunity to do pretty well, and the opportunity to really screw up.”
