Boy George to Sing for NYC Street Sweepers

Posted Jun 12, 08 9:32 CDT in Arts & Living Gossip

(Newser) – Boy George is planning a private gig as a thank-you to the people who helped him keep New York's streets clean during his week of court-ordered community service, the New York Daily News reports. The singer, who says city workers treated him very kindly during his 2006 punishment for wasting police time, will play the sanitation department's family picnic this summer.

"The people I worked alongside showed great kindness to me at a very difficult time and I wanted to thank them all in a way that would show my appreciation," said the Culture Club frontman, who spent much of his 2006 sentence cursing at reporters.
