Punditry for the Playgroup Set

(Newser) – The cover is a dead ringer for the bedtime classic, and the point of Goodnight Bush is equally recognizable. In authors' Erich Origen and Gan Golan’s re-purposing of Goodnight Moon, Dubya snuggles into bed wearing a “Mission Accomplished” flight suit, in the company of “war profiteers giving three cheers,” with a crayon-redacted constitution on the wall, the New York Times reports.

There is some question of copyright considering the similarities to the 1947 original, (and Bush family favorite), but its publisher is relying on the fair use doctrine. “Parody as fair use is a developing area of the law,” said one entertainment lawyer, “and as a result, whether a given parody merits the shield of the fair use doctrine is a complex question.”
