11 Die in Gaza Violence
Mourners carry the body of Mohammed Sweirk, a member of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' elite presidential guard, who was kidnapped on Sunday by Hamas militants who took him to the roof of a 15-story apartment building and threw him to his death, during his funeral in Gaza City, Monday, June...   (Associated Press)

Violence broke out across the Gaza Strip yesterday, mere hours after a declared cease fire.  Fatah gunmen murdered a senior Hamas member late in the day, followed by the execution of a senior Fatah member outside his home, where he was hit with 45 bullets.

The violence then spread, leaving 11 dead and more than 40 injured. Shootouts and mortar attacks also broke out at two Gaza hospitals, at one point forcing hospital authorities to suspend working. (More Gaza stories.)
