Engagement speculation hits overdrive on word of Carole Middleton's royal invite

(Newser) – The mother of Prince William's girlfriend is set to meet Queen Elizabeth tomorrow, the Telegraph reports, with Carole Middleton scoring an invitation to the royal box at the Ascot races. The news intensified speculation that Kate Middleton and Prince Charles' elder son could soon be engaged, seven years after meeting at university.

The privately owned estate spreads across 50,000 acres and has been in the royal family since 1848, when Queen Victoria snapped it up. Prince William, Kate Middleton not warmly received by Amir Khadir

(NEWSER) - Suffice it to say Quebec legislator Amir Khadir is not happy about the upcoming royal visit. Khadir, leader of a small left-wing party, said yesterday that taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for Prince William’s planned summer visit with his new wife, the Duchess of Cambridge. Khadir, a self-described separatist, compared the British royal family to "parasites" in a tabloid interview, the AP reports, and the Quebec government has since demanded an apology. More»
