Player Denies Vegas Run-In Led to Mugging

Posted Jun 18, 08 5:40 PM CDT in Crime & Courts Sports

(Newser) – Disputing reports he was mugged after a Las Vegas run-in with boxer Floyd Mayweather, Javon Walker tells TheDirty.com's Nik Richie (who claims the NFL wide receiver is a "very close friend") that three armed men entered his hotel room early Monday, knocked him out and took his valuables. Walker, recently signed by Oakland, was released from hospital today after suffering facial injuries.

Walker was photographed spraying a nightclub crowd with champagne hours before the incident; TheDirty.com's report has raised eyebrows among bloggers, with ProFootballTalk.com pointing out that Sin City's multiple security cameras might "blow his story out of the water." Meanwhile, his agent tells AP, "Javon looks forward to getting back to his family and teammates."
