(Newser) – Tigers fireballer Justin Verlander scored a spectacular no-hitter at home against the Brewers, the team with the NL's two leading home-run artists. The right-hander used his changeup and curve to devastating effect, chalking 12 Ks and allowing only three balls to reach the outfield in the 4-0 interleague victory.

Verlander did give up four walks, three to slugger Bill Hall. It was the first no-hitter ever in Comerica Park and the first in Detroit since 1973, when Nolan Ryan came to town. Jack Morris had the last no-no for the Tigers in 1984, in Chicago's Comiskey Park.
