Broker Breaks Ranks to Rant on Profession's 'Gibberish'

(Newser) – A London broker who wrote a popular, anonymous newspaper column that lambasted the greed, superficiality, and "gibberish"-peddling nature of his profession is going public, quitting the financial world, and, of course, writing a book about it all, Bloomberg reports. “We didn't invent greed,” said Geraint Anderson, who revealed his identity in TheLondonPaper this week, “but we have certainly become its finest exponents.”

In his "CityBoy" column, Anderson made fun of analysts for writing "utter gibberish" to their clients even as he did so for his own. Anderson—the top stock picker for utilities in the UK in 2005—recounts an offer to switch firms in his book: "What a total buffoon!'' Jones writes of the person making the offer. "These total losers think that I'm worth almost 700,000 pounds over the next year-and-a-half. Don't they realize I'm just a stoner hippy who got lucky?''
