Deep V-Necks No Longer Welcome at Tee Party

Posted Jun 28, 08 8:06 AM CDT in Arts & Living Glossies

(Newser) – The deep V-neck T-shirt, that "misguided ode to the male sternum," has taken the classic, plain, white version to a place so fashion forward many are hoping it gets lost there, Kate Radway writes in Radar. "I see them on the street and I am almost sick of it," says a rep for American Apparel, identified as the key trend culprit.

Perhaps, one analyst says, the deep V lets men make the statement, "I'm a little cooler … a little more fashion forward … I've taken the next step." Demurs Radway, "Donning a deep V-neck T-shirt to a summer party may scream 'sexy and confident' to the fashion elite, but to others it simply bellows, 'Look at me and my chest hair!'"

We have them to blame, says Radway.   (Flickr)
Just look at this dude.
While this fellow might have other fashion issues, he hasn't quite given up the tradition V-neck T-shirt for the newer, deeper version.   (Flickr)
