Yankees Break Even With Win Streak

Posted Jun 14, 07 1:11 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Yankees have found their way back to the familiar side of .500 for the first time since April, with their eighth win in a row. The Yanks climbed to 32-31 at the expense of the Arizona Diamondbacks, aided by Alex Rodriguez's league-leading 25th home run and a strong eight innings from Mike Mussina.

Jorge Posada and Hideki Matsui also went yard for the Bronx Bombers, helping Mussina earn his first win in over a month. Despite their smoldering June, New York still has a long game of catchup with its division rivals in Boston. Despite a recent bout of mediocrity, the Sox are clinging to the best record in the majors at 41-23—8.5 games ahead of the Yankees.
