Though Brett Favre referred to recent rumblings as "all rumor," multiple sources close to the retired QB say the Green Bay legend has "got the itch" to play again, reports ESPN. His brother, who noted that Favre has been working out, put a return at "50-50." Wisconsin-based news outlets, citing an NFL source, are reporting that Favre has asked for his release from the Packers.

The Packers apparently refused to release him, though ESPN's sources deny talks ever progressed to that point. "Brett's a high-quality person and he's not going to push it that far. He'll do the right thing," said a source from the Packers' organization. "Brett Favre is retired and until he tells me something different, that's what it is," confirmed his agent.
