What Will Apple Do After Jobs?

Posted Jul 3, 08 1:01 PM CDT in Business Opinion Technology

(Newser) – What happens to Apple post-Steve Jobs? That’s been the question since the iconic CEO appeared worn at the June Apple Developers Conference. And the answer isn’t easy, writes Brian Caulfield in Forbes. “It's not like you can say, 'Let's go find ourselves another genius,'” commented a consultant. Still, the company has been cultivating strong talent at the top and surely has a game plan.

Leading inside talent includes COO Tim Cook, CFO Peter Oppenheimer, and engineer Scott Forstall. But no matter what, Apple needs a visionary to match Jobs and Apple’s culture, not just a good manager, argues Caulfield. "The new person will have to fit that culture like a glove," said the consultant. "The passion, the creativity ... none of that can change."
