Another Shock Jock Gets TV Tryout

Posted Jul 9, 08 10:55 AM CDT in Gossip Arts & Living

(Newser) – Wendy Williams, the blunt, compulsively personal, sometimes snarky radio host whose syndicated morning show reaches 12 million people, mostly in New York, is about to debut on TV. Next week, Williams launches an hour morning show on Fox stations in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Detroit, directly competing with more staid programs she's enjoyed shaking up in guest appearances, the New York Times reports.

Williams, known for burbling about her own past drug use and plastic surgery, as well as prodding her celebrity guests to the point of rebellion, hopes to bring the feel of her radio program to the small screen. “It’s my job to be all up in their business in interviews,” she tells the Times, but “I don’t feel I ask anything of anybody else that I wouldn’t give up myself.”
