Die-Hard Cubs Fans to Get Final Waiting Place

(Newser) – When the last living Cubs fan to have seen his team win the World Series passed away in April at age 106, fans willing to wait a lifetime realized a lifetime may not be long enough. One is now preparing the field of their dreams in a Chicago cemetery, the AP reports, where 280 "eternal skyboxes" will be available in a replica of Wrigley Field's center wall.

Fans waiting in the hereafter for the team to end their century-long title drought will have bronze baseball cards bearing their names, likenesses and "stats" next to their Cubs urns;  there is talk of piping in the games. It may sound extreme, but not to those who witnessed loved ones bringing photos of their eternally loyal forebears  to the Cubs' 2003 playoff games. Some fans are already eyeing a place in the wall. "What else are you going to do, lay in a box next to loved ones?" asked one.
