(Newser) – The death of Tony Snow serves as a tragic reminder that some things are far more important in life than party politics, Elizabeth Edwards writes in Newsweek. The Democratic health adviser pays warm tribute to her fellow cancer sufferer, and expresses hope that the words "common cause" will gain greater meaning. "I suspect Tony and I agreed on more things than we might have guessed," she writes.

"Lots of people who valued the same things Tony did—a family well-loved and work well-done—have died and will die of colon cancer," she adds. "Can't we start with something easy on which we can agree—that no one should die of a disease we can find and stop?"
