Where Did the Material Girl Go?

Posted Jul 17, 08 7:10 AM CDT in Arts & Living

(Newser) – Madge might finally be easing into a different Madonna role: that of the mother figure in flowing, buttoned-up dresses. As unlikely as this sounds to those who remember the tutus, fingerless gloves, and infamous cone-bra, the most shocking thing about the Material Girl's recent outfits has been their lack of daring, reports the New York Times.

“I think she’s looking like Christie Brinkley going to court,” says one fashion designer. Although her newest album does show the 49-year-old singer in a bodysuit and fighter's gear, it's not a trendsetting look by any means. "I’m not going to go around wearing a boxing belt," promises one Madonna fan.
