(Newser) – About 25 disgruntled Hillary Clinton donors met Tuesday with a top adviser to John McCain, and promised “hundreds of thousands and maybe millions of votes” for the Republican—if their conditions were met. Carly Fiorina said the women she met in New York were “intensely uncomfortable with the notion of a President Obama,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

Several of the attendees were reportedly “Hillraisers,” who'd raised more than $100,000 for the former first lady. The women want assurances from McCain on a handful of issues, including equal pay and federal mandates for paid maternity leave. The Journal notes polls showing one-quarter of Hillary backers favor the Arizona senator over Democratic rival Barack Obama.
