Your Airport To-Not-Do List

Posted Jul 18, 08 5:25 PM CDT in Arts & Living

(Newser) – Air travel not stressful enough for you? US News and World Report presents four ways to land yourself in a planeload of trouble.

  1. Use words like “bomb” and “hijack”: A man in Boston jokingly told an airport clerk he was “here to blow things up,” and discovered state troopers and a K-9 unit just didn’t get his sense of humor.

  1. Travel with illegal items: Anything from gel inserts to foreign guavas can result in some serious headaches. Oddly, you are allowed to bring items like scissors and lighters on board.
  2. Wear ill-advised clothing: An student with LEDs on her shirt wound up facing down a gun over her suspicious-looking garment.
  3. Look worried: Thanks to “behavior detection officers” now commonplace at airports, even the wrong facial expression can make you a target.
