For Albom's Latest, You'll Need a Kindle

(Newser) – Mitch Albom's newest work is less than 4,000 words long and available for 99 cents—but only if you have a Kindle e-book reader to view it on. The exclusive deal for the text—a speech Albom delivered to his nephew's graduating class in May—could reveal some of the mysteries about the Kindle's place in the publishing market, reports the AP.

Amazon.com hasn't revealed sales numbers for the digital library device, but those with industry insight (as well as some guessing wildly) have estimated 10,000 to 100,000 customers. "The immediacy of the Internet and what Amazon is doing with Kindle is interesting to me, as it is to many authors," said the best-selling Albom. He's donating the Kindle proceeds to charity.
