Woman Faces Murder Rap After Baby Is Cut From Teen

Posted Jul 20, 08 12:32 PM CDT in Crime & Courts

(Newser) – Pittsburgh investigators believe a newborn boy brought to a hospital by a woman claiming to be his mother actually was sliced from the uterus of a dead teenager found in the imposter's apartment. Police have identified the victim, who was18 years old and due at the end of the month, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

When tests confirmed the baby and woman who brought him in were not related, the woman told police she had miscarried last month and didn't want to disappoint her mother. The baby "recovered very quickly with treatment," hospital reps said. The woman was charged with endangering the welfare of an infant. Other charges are pending the results of the murder investigation, police said.
