Left Breaks News; Right Can't Fix It

(Newser) – The left is using the Internet far more effectively than the right, Jonathan Martin writes on Politico. While conservative political sites are principally opinion, lefty destinations like the Huffington Post and Talking Points Memo tread the line between reportage and commentary, breaking stories ignored by the mainstream media that advance liberal interests—and often hurt Republican candidates.

With any number of cases where this reporting has eventually trickled out into the national conversation, such sites provide a steady drip of anti-GOP information—and have no equivalent across the aisle. “It’s something we have to get in gear on,” says a former Republican webmaster. “What drives discussion in the blogosphere is original information.”
