Hasbro Sues Scrabulous, Warns Facebook

Posted Jul 24, 08 9:05 PM CDT in Business Technology

(Newser) – The makers of Scrabble say Scrabulous must go. Hasbro today sued the creators of the online knockoff, which is wildly popular on Facebook, and warned the social networking site to dtich the game, ABC News reports. No word yet on whether that will happen. Hasbro recently released its own online version of Scrabble, also available on Facebook, in conjunction with Electronic Arts.

"We expect the full cooperation of Facebook in this matter," said a Hasbro statement. Its lawsuit accuses the creators of Scrabulous, brothers Rajat Agarwalla and Jayant Agarwalla, of violating the company's intellectual property. Fans, meanwhile, aren't happy, and Save Scrabulous campaigns are under way. "We have a group of 14,000 people who are really passionate about this brand," said one.
