(NEWSER) - God bless America ... and the Chrysler bailout ... seemed to be the message that left football fans misty-eyed after Clint Eastwood's Super Bowl Chrysler ad. It's "halftime" in America, and we're all pulling together for a brighter economic future, says the gravelly-voiced star. But Eastwood was opposed to the bailout that made the Chrysler turnaround possible, and now the ad has become a political football as Dems score points with it and the GOP tackles it, notes ABC News . “Saving the American Auto Industry: Something Eminem and Clint Eastwood can agree on," crowed White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer on Twitter, referring to Eminem’s Chrysler ad during last year's Super Bowl. "Powerful spot," chimed in Obama re-election strategist David Axelrod. Couple was in town for film premiere

(NEWSER) - Just another day in the life of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: The super-couple was spotted yesterday in the Oval Office, having a little chat with President Obama. They were in town for a screening of Jolie's directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, at the Holocaust museum, the AP notes. A White House deputy press secretary tells the New York Post that they spoke about "[Angelina's] work to raise the profile of preventing mass atrocities and combating sexual violence against women." (NEWSER) - Wedding bells are ringing for what seems like all of Hollywood. The latest:

• Drew Barrymore got engaged over the holidays to art consultant Will Kopelman, whom she has been linked to for almost a year, People and E! report. The couple was on vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho, when Kopelman popped the question with a nearly-4-carat Graff diamond ring. This will be the third marriage for Barrymore; her rep has not yet officially confirmed the engagement, but Us has what it calls an official engagement photo.

Mitt says he can't control 'independent' group

(NEWSER) - Mitt Romney was confronted yesterday over the anti-Gingrich attack ads that a pro-Romney super PAC has been pumping out, prompting him to label the whole concept of super PACs “a disaster”—and insist he couldn’t lawfully intervene. “My goodness, if we coordinate in any way whatsoever, we go to the big house,” he said. Newt Gingrich read those remarks at a press conference later. “Baloney,” he declared, observing that the PAC was founded by ex-Romney staffers and funded by “his personal friends,” the AP reports. (NEWSER) - TMZ earlier reported that Britney Spears will be engaged by tonight—and it turns out that's true. Longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick apparently popped the question last night, confirms TMZ. The news comes on the heels of this post to her Facebook wall: "OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I've been waiting for. Can't wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo." Apparently, the 15,000+ fans who liked/commented on the post are pretty excited, too. TMZ notes that Trawick is throwing a huge dinner party at the Paris Hotel's the Chocolate Lounge in Vegas tonight, at which the men will apparently celebrate with chocolate truffle cigars. More»
