Meeting with McCarthy lasts 5 hours—QB's fate still uncertain

(Newser) – Packers coach Mike McCarthy talked with once (and future?) quarterback Brett Favre last night in a meeting that stretched five hours. The marathon chat pre-empted scheduled sessions with other players and the media, but close to midnight Favre's future with Green Bay was still unclear, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Steve Mariucci wasn't suprised that the talk dragged on for so long. "Knowing Brett, I think his question would be to Mike and the Packers: 'Are you as committed to me as I am to this football team coming back?' I think they have to really pound that out," said the Packers quarterbacks coach, a friend of Favre.
