Whether you think President Bush is stepping boldly into the future or trampling on civil liberties, these days he's doing it in an ugly pair of shoes. Cameras spotted Bush sporting black Crocs—those trendy, tacky, rubbery clogs with ventilation holes and a heel strap—proving, Robin Givhan argues, that at least the president's fashion sense isn't unimpeachable.

But the Commander-in-Chief made the ultimate faux pas by pairing the Crocs with black, Presidential-seal socks. The Post speculates Bush picked up the horrendous footwear at a fundraiser for the Virginia Republican party in May, which was hosted by Crocs Chairman Rick Sharp. (More George W. Bush stories.)
