Cuckold's Web Vendetta Wrecks Banker's Career

Bitter online campaign pays off when ex-wife's disgraced lover resigns

(Newser) – The resignation last week of a top Wall Street banker, supposedly to “spend more time with his family,” was actually the result of a successful Internet vendetta by the cuckolded husband of a woman with whom Steve Rattner had had an affair. Rattner tells the New York Times his case is a cautionary tale of how an online campaign can destroy a career.

Bizarrely, the cuckold began his campaign only recently, years after the affair and in fact after he and his wife divorced. He posted elaborate comments on several websites and sent incendiary emails to Credit Suisse employees about Rattner—a decorated executive who committed no crime. "I feel like the star of a bad made-for-TV movie," he said.
