Edwards Admits Affair, Denies Paternity

Share

(Newser) – John Edwards has admitted that he had an affair with the rumored mother of his illegitimate child, but the onetime presidential and vice presidential candidate denies the child is his, ABC News reports. He says his affair with Rielle Hunter ended too early for him to have been the father of the child, who was born in February.

In an interview with Bob Woodruff scheduled to air during Nightline tonight, Edwards also says he has not taken a paternity test. The ex-senator says he did not love Hunter, and that his relationship with her began while the cancer that afflicts his wife, Elizabeth, was in remission.
