The National Enquirer, having finally forced John Edwards to confess to the affair with Rielle Hunter that he had strenuously denied, isn't backing down on the parts of the story Edwards still swears aren't true. This week the supermarket tabloid insists that Edwards is indeed the father of Hunter's child—and that she became pregnant when the affair resumed, after Edwards confessed to his wife Elizabeth in 2006.

The magazine says he’s visited Hunter and the baby three times this year at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, where Enquirer reporters confronted him one night in July. The tab also claims that Edwards did, in fact, know his camp was giving money to his former mistress—and the payments continue. He is said to have arranged for her to be "whisked away on a private jet" to an undisclosed location 2 days before his television confession.   (More affair stories.)
