Antigua charges man and teen in robbery gone tragic

(Newser) – A 20-year-old man and a teenager in Antigua have been charged with murder and robbery in the shooting deaths of a honeymooning British couple last month, the Guardian reports. The two are expected to remain in custody until they face trial. The victims were buried last week at the Welsh church where they were married a month ago.

(NEWSER) - A British businessman is facing extradition after being arrested on suspicion of conspiring to murder his bride on their South African honeymoon, the Telegraph reports. Shrien and Anni Dewani had been married just two weeks when their taxi was carjacked Nov. 13. Shrien and the driver were forced out of the car, but Anni, 28, was kidnapped and later found shot in the back of the cab, her jewelry, purse, and phone stolen. Driver Zola Tongo now claims that it was all a plot by Shrien, who Tongo claims hired him and the carjackers to stage the killing, the BBC reports. More»

(NEWSER) - A former scuba shop owner has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for murdering his wife during a dive in the British Virgin Islands. David Swain of Rhode Island killed his wife by ripping off her mask and shutting off her air supply as the pair swam near a shipwreck. Swain was motivated by his desire to date another woman, and to get his hands on his wife's money, prosecutors said. (NEWSER) - A honeymooning groom wounded in what was apparently a botched robbery has died of his injuries, the Daily Telegraph reports. Ben Mullany, 31, was declared dead a week after his pediatrician bride died in the shooting in their honeymoon suite at a popular Antigua resort.
