(Newser) – Americans Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor are still queens of the sand. The duo won the gold medal in beach volleyball today by beating the Chinese team of Wang Jie amd Tian Ja, the AP reports. Walsh and May-Treanor, who have now won 108 consecutive matches, are the first to repeat as Olympic champs in the sport.

"We felt like warriors out there," said Walsh, referring to the steady rain that fell during the match. "The pressure of playing China made it pretty intense."
