(Newser) – Sarah Palin's husband was arrested in 1986 for driving while intoxicated, the Christian Broadcasting Network reports. Todd Palin, who was dating the VP candidate, then Sarah Heath, was not involved in any accident but was jailed briefly. A spokesman for John McCain told CNN the campaign was aware of the arrest but not worried.

Todd Palin, 43, was “forthcoming about the situation and has indicated that it was a lesson learned from when he was younger,” a source told CBN's David Brody, who notes, “Barack Obama has admitted to some past moral failures too in his youth … and he’s running for President.”
